Shiloh-Sixth Avenue United Church seeks to provide a supportive, nurturing and fun community for children and youth where they can;

• Deepen their relationship with God
• Recognize their God-given gifts and talents and experience God's unconditional love
• Learn ways to respond to that love
• Experience and learn the teachings of Jesus Christ
• Learn ways to respond to Jesus' teachings as disciples in our World!

We share the story of our faith through play, art, music, prayer, conversation and worship.

WORSHIP AND CHILDREN

On Sunday mornings, children and youth are encouraged to remain in worship until after the first song.  You may also want to sit near the front so that children are better able to experience the rhythm of worship.  We invite families with young children to pick up a Sabbath bag at the back of the sanctuary at the beginning of the service - these bags contain activities for young children to use during worship.  Please place them back on the hooks when you are finished with them at the end of the service.

There are opportunities for children and youth to take part in the leadership of worship services (reading, welcoming everyone, taking up the candle etc.)  Please talk to Pamela if you are interested in helping out!

NURSERY CARE

Each week, our ECE certified caregiver, looks after children, birth to three years old in our beautiful and inviting nursery.  Parents can sign in their children at our nursery at the beginning of worship or after the children and youth leave worship (after intergenerational conversation) and then pick them up after worship is finished.

CHILDREN'S CHURCH EACH SUNDAY

Children, ages 3-11, meet in the Children's Space, 3rd floor.  Although there are times when we are all together, we do meet in separate groups for various activities - ages 3-8 and 9-11.  We are excited to be presenting ways of worship that encourage children to discover and deepen their faith.

GODLY PLAY

Godly Play is a method of Christian education and spiritual direction primarily for children ages 2-12  Godly Play affirms a child's innate spirituality. The goal of Godly Play is to teach children a language of faith through parable, sacred story and silence.  It is a way for children to realize and experience God's presence around them and in their world.  It is an amazing and enriching blessing to see children connect with their faith in such deep and significant ways.

PARENT AND TOT

All Parents and children under 6 are invited to join us on Thursday mornings from 10:00am-11:30am or Wednesday Noon - 2pm in our lounge - please check our Calender for dates.  This program runs during the school year.  It is an opportunity for parents to support and talk to other parents and children to have fun together in a safe and comfortable environment.  We pray together and we play together!  Come and join us!

YOUTH MINISTRY

Junior Youth, children ages 9-11, meet Monday nights from 6:30-8pm during the school year.  This group is involved in worship leadership, outreach projects and many fun and exciting events.  Contact Mary for more information!

Senior Youth Group, ages 12-17, meets, on the last Sunday morning of the month in the Youth Room on the 3rd floor with their leaders.  Youth are also invited to participate in various social outings during the month including local and presbytery events.
